    BENALPA organization opens seminar on Public Health in Mogadishu

Tuesday, June 05, 2012(Xurmo) - A seminar organized by the Benadir Livestock Professional Association (BENALPA) discussing community health has been opened in Mogadishu on Tuesday.

 

Thirty persons invited from the Ministries of Health, Livestock and Agriculture, civil society organizations and composers were the key participants in the three -day seminar.

Dr. Ahmed Takow Hassan, Secretary of BENALPA said they are pleased with opening the seminar and has detailed the purpose of the seminar, the achievements of BENALPA Organization and its significance at this time when the social infrastructures to strengthen the general community health are remaining destroyed.

Dr. Nurto Sheikh Mohamed, Chairman of BENALPA organization mentioned the seminar is for launching project aiming for community awareness raising on how to care for the general sanitation and public health, and prevent against the problems of insanitary often resulting from dirtiness, and has detailed the need for improving the public sanitation. 

“ I want message translating on how to protect the health environment such as livestock butchery locations, market selling places, slaughter houses which are important places impacting on the general health to be passed to the community,” Dr. Nurto Said urging the participants to set out plan on how the public could be reached in order to protect the community health.       

In his official opening remarks, Prof. Mohamud Mohamed Mohamud, Director General of the Ministries of Livestock and Agriculture of the TFG appreciated BENALPA for their efforts towards serving the public, and added the seminar comes at the appropriate time, and similarly when there is huge need to make difference in the community health.   

Prof. Mohamud indicated as Ministry they are prepared to take their part in the public health program, and has requested his Ministry to host the next scientific symposium for the community health project. 

The seminar funded by the Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been in progress for three days.

Six facilitators from BENALPA and the Ministries of Health, Livestock and Agriculture have conducted the seminar.

The aim of the seminar was to conduct awareness raising training for the various community sectors in Banadir region.
